Dell’s new smartphone, the ‘Lightning’ personally seems to be an amazing comeback for Dell, having been absent from the smartphone market for quite some time now… And the best thing about it is that it would be running on Windows Phone 7! It will probably come come at the end of this year, equipped with:
- Portrait sliding QWERTY keyboard
- A 4.1″ WVGA OLED touchscreen display
- 3G (for both AT&T and T-Mobile)
- Wi-Fi
- GPS
- compass
- accelerometer
- 1GB of ROM
- 512MB of RAM
- 1GHz Snapdragon processor
- A 5MP autofocus camera
- Flash Support

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to let everyone know that the new site is up and running. You will notice some blazing fast speeds and some great new features throughout the entire site. We have put a TON of work into this, and still more is needed. We are looking for another “Web” developer to assist us with the additions that need to be put into the site. Please contact me directly to submit your request to work for us. Also, your comments are appreciated. We need to know if you find ANYTHING wrong with the site at all. Submit anything you find to our site Admin.
We are currently accepting applications for our paid blogging positions. Also accepting “free” writers as well. If you would like your voice heard (or read) by thousands of people every month, this is the place for that. Negri Electronics is one of the only (strictly) high end wireless electronics stores online, so we have a unique niche. Your posts mean alot to us and to our customers. The more information that is posted the more information that can be shared throughout the web. Please apply to me directly for more information on Blogging for NE!
Our new Blog Manger is Jean Paul Navarro. (You may contact him directly if my reply is delayed) He will be recruiting new bloggers, posting information he has, and assisting in making the Negri Electronics Blog as popular as can be. We thank him for all of his hard work so far, and anticipate some great things.
Thank you for your time.
Please contact me for any reason, I am always here.

PPCGeeks claims to have some inside information before the Mobile World Congress event on February 15th. Below are a list of the leaked details of the new OS. Some seem interesting, including the Zune Marketplace and Xbox Live integration. Some of the features, such as, no multitasking or the application from the app store only, concern me. Is Microsoft taking a step back to create the Zune equivalent of the iPhone? In the process, will Microsoft risk alienating a group of users who have stuck with Windows Mobile through thick and thin?
-The User Interface is based upon codename “METRO”. It will be very similar to the Zune HD User Interface with a complete revamp of the “Start” screen. The UI is “Very Clean”, “Soulful” and “Alive”
-Unfortunately there will be no Flash support at the get go as there was not enough time to implement these features.
-Windows Phone 7 will only support application installation through service based delivery. (i.e Marketplace). Application installation via storage card will not be possible.
- No Multi-Task support. Applications will “Pause” when in the background, however will support notifications via push notifications.
-Marketplace will now support “try before you buy” as well as an API
-No NETCF backwards compatibility. This means the original rumor of no backward compatibility for applications holds to be true. That being said, there are high hopes of porting the NetCF to the newer platform easily.
-Microsoft is confident that devices will be ready by September 2010
-Full Zune Integration
-Windows Mobile Device Center will no longer be used. Zune software to take over syncing via PC.
-OEM Interfaces will not be allowed to run on the device. Say goodbye to Sense UI / SPB Mobile Shell / Point UI / Infinity, etc, etc
-Full XBOX Gaming Integration (Gamer tag, achievements, friends, avatars, merchandising, etc)
-Full support for social networking

Is the HP Slate better then the Apple iPad?? I personally think it is… There are similar features between the 2 such as: screen size, both have an eBook client, both support multi-touch, and the storage is approximately the same. But the Slate has many features that will make me choose it instead of the iPad, such as: MULTITASKING, FLASH SUPPORT, is actually run a PC operating system (Windows 7), you can use any browser, it has a camera, USB port, it runs Windows apps, better processor, and will be cheaper probably. With those features the Slate wins hands-down. But on the other hand the iPad also has a few better features, such as: you can BUY an optional dongle for expandable memory, it has 3g (the expensive models at least), and we don’t know how long the battery of the Slate lasts since 10hrs is quite good. They’re also both good looking… There are also other tablets that one might look into, such as the Fusion Garage JooJoo, the Dell Mini 5, the Archos 7 Android, the Archos 9, and the Lenovo IdeaPad U1.

just installed the final Windows 7 Ultimate RTM, and I’m loving it. I do admit that it takes some getting used to, but its worth-it… To me its the Ferrari 360 of Operating Systems, a breath of fresh air if you were previously using the Morris Minor that is called Vista. It is also surprisingly compatible with many software and driers, even though it hasn’t even been released to the general public yet. Here are a few of my favourite tips & tricks found in Windows 7 (below are my own screenshots):
Windows Management - being able to dock a window to one side of the screen, and anther window to the other side. You could also minimize a window.
- Win+Left Arrow and Win+Right Arrow dock;
- Win+Up Arrow and Win+Down Arrow maximizes and restores / minimizes;
- Win+Shift+Up Arrow and Win+Shift+Down Arrow maximizes and restores the vertical size.
Minimizing Windows - A useful button found on the new taskbar is to minimize all windows to show desktop. The button is the one on the right. You could also press Win+Home
Multi-monitor Management - In 7 you can use Win+Shift+Left Arrow and Win+Shift+Right Arrow to move windows from one monitor to another – keeping them in the same relative location to the monitor’s top-left origin.
Another trick is to call up the programs docked in your taskbar by clicking Win+1, Win+2, Win+3, etc
Another trick that might not really come in handy, but is fun to do is the ability to peek at your desktop by holding Win+Space, this will temporary minimize the windows you where on until you hold those buttons. When you let go of them the windows in use will pop-up again.
