For those who own either the Droid Incredible or Motorola Droid from Verizon, expect to get your Froyo update soon. Motorola Droid owners have been able to download Android 2.2, but, according to Verizon, owners will get a second Froyo update sometime in September. The new update will allow users to download Flash 10.1 from the Android store, once it is out.

According to Mashables.com, Droid Incredible users will receive their update for Android 2.2 on August 18. Like the 2.2 updates, the update for the Incredible will also bring Flash 10.1, faster processing speeds, USB tethering and Wi-Fi hotspot functionality to the mobile OS.

Today, Google released its new Voice Search application, which will allow users to perform functions on their phones using only voice commands. The function is only available to phones running on 2.2 and comes pre-installed with the Droid 2.
So far, Voice Search only has 12 “Voice Actions,” not including search, including navigation to locations, sending texts to contacts, and even leaving yourself a handy note to remind yourself about something. Users will still have to use their hands to complete the actions, however.
The application is out today. Those interested on learning more about the new functions can visit this link.

The Droid 2, Motorola’s successor to its popular smartphone the Droid, has finally been confirmed. While pictures and mock-ups of the phone have appeared in the media for the past few months, neither Motorola nor Verizon has confirmed the existence of the Droid 2 – until now.

Although no official announcement has gone out through Verizon, the ad pictured above shows a Droid 2 with “Coming Soon” below it. The internet has seen a slew Droid 2 pictures on the internet, including pictures of mock-up Droid 2′s at Best Buy retail stores and pictures of the actual phone. The ad above is the first real confirmation of the phone released by Verizon.
The Droid 2 is rumored to launch August 12 with a 1Ghz processor, Google’s 2.2 version of the Android OS, “Froyo”, and 8GB of internal memory.

Sure, the Desire’s coming to a handful of regional American carriers later this year, but what if you want the smaller, sleeker, more aluminum-clad Legend? Well, there aren’t any carrier-branded options in the States — but it seems that a number of unlocked units with US 3G bands are starting to ooze out of the cracks. Negri Electronics is offering an 850 / 1900MHz 3G Legend for just under $500.  Check it out here.
