“Stop Poaching Apple Employees” asked by late Steve Jobs to Google
January 28th, 2012 by Salman Khan
Recently, a court filing was revealed recently that Apple co-founder late Steve Jobs sent an email to former Google chief Eric Schmidt requesting an end to worker poaching. The email was launched in the March 2007, specifically asked Google to put a stop to its active recruitment of an unnamed Apple engineer and alluded to stop worker poaching in general according to a report from Reuters.
Some of the text of Jobs email was “would be very pleased if your recruiting department would stop doing this”. Schmidt was the part of Apple’s board of director at the time to which the email was sent. Schmidt quickly turned around and forwarded the correspondence to certain undisclosed members of Google’s staff, including a staffing director who responded that the employee responsible for the recruitment would be “terminated within the hour.” Apparently, the unnamed staffing manager also asked that his apologies be conveyed to Jobs for his actions.
This news came into lime light because of a civil litigation stemming from a Justice Department probe. The probe investigated the anti-poaching practices of Google, Apple, Adobe Systems, Intel, Intuit Inc., and Pixar. Actually in 2009, Apple and Google reportedly created an unofficial agreement to not poach each other’s workers, resulting in the antitrust investigation. All six of the companies involved settled with the Justice Department in 2010 by agreeing to a five year moratorium on “no solicitation agreements.”
During the heading of this week, a civil suit claims from five software engineers who are accusing the companies of colluding to keep employees’ salaries low by eliminating labor competition. In future the case may split into different class action lawsuits and this can continue

The Best of Blackberry: An Overview of the BlackBerry 9800 Torch
July 9th, 2011 by Joena Dimaranan
When Blackberry launched its Torch Slide Phone on September 2010 in North America, it had really impressed most users. However there are some who are not quite satisfied with what Blackberry 9800 has offered.
In terms of physical appearance this phone comes with 111 x 62 x 14.6mm in size and weighs 161g which is handy and a bit heavy unlike the other mobile phones. Its 3.2 inch display offers 360 x 480 pixels of resolution which is multi-touch input method and has proximity sensor for auto turn-off. It has a QWERTY keyboard which is good for text messaging. It has a phonebook that offers unlimited entries for it has 4 GB storage, 512 MB RAM, and 512 MB ROM. Its camera gives 5 MP that has 2592х1944 pixels, autofocus, and LED flash. It operates BlackBerry OS 6.0 which has 624 MHz processor. The Li-lon 1300 mAh battery can last until 432 h (2G), 5 h 30 min (2G) of talk time, or up to 30 h of music play.
It doesn’t offer radio and Infrared port which makes other users have not enjoyed the phone. Some complains that
when ordering the phone, it comes with two boxes, which is not quite impressing with those consumers who are expecting to receive their Blackberry as a surprise gift. Its small keypad is another big problem of other users who have issues with their eye visions.
Some are happy with the service of this Blackberry phone and some are not, however we should admit that the phone is really impressive in terms of usage. Just like other mobile phones, it is easy to use.
[Update: Video] Exclusive preview: BlackBerry Bold 9900 with BBOS 7!
June 17th, 2011 by SciencePro
We’ve been fortunate enough to grab some time with RIMs latest creation, the Bold 9900! Some may say that the Bold form factor is getting long in the tooth, but RIM is clearly sticking with what it knows best and has further refined the design of this phone, making it a pleasure to handle. The original Bold was praised for its sharp display, and this device continues the tradition while adding a sensitive capacitive touchscreen. The new Bold (which will also be available as the 9930 on Verizon) weighs in at only 130g, and keeps a slim profile at 10.5mm. The phone is equipped with 1.2 GHz Snapdragon Processor, 768 MB RAM and a crisp 2.8 inch multitouch display with a pixel density of of 287 PPI. As always, one of the highlights of the device is RIM’s physical Qwerty keyboard; the Bold 9900 iteration is as comfortable and tactile as ever.
It has 8 GB of in-built memory with expandibility up to 32 GB with a Micro SD slot. The 5 megapixel camera includes a flash and supports of HD video recording at 720p resolution. The Bold 9900 brings dual-band 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth 2.1 to the table, as well as an orientation sensor, digital compass, and proximity sensor. A 1230mah battery runs the show; while this is lower in capacity than many of the latest smartphones, we’re hoping that RIM’s tradition of power-sipping efficiency continues with its latest devices. Like the Nexus S, the Bold 9900 is graced with NFC technology for tag reading, mobile payments, and other applications.
BlackBerry OS 7 shows some of the fruits of RIM’s recent acquisitions of TAT and QNX with the new “Liquid Graphics.” However, since BlackBerry OS 7 is still based on the traditional BBOS platform and not the QNX operating system on the PlayBook, it will still feel familiar to existing users. BlackBerry OS 6 was the first to offer a modern WebKit browser, and OS 7 improves things further. Everyone’s favorite, BBM is front and center as always, and the BlackBerry ID offering lets you locate a lost phone while BlackBerry Protect backs up your data regularly.

BlackBerry Torch 2 with OS 7 Revealed!
June 3rd, 2011 by SciencePro
Negri Electronics has been one of the first to obtain the brand new, unannounced Torch 2. This hot handset is a follow up to the Torch that launched on AT&T last year to great success. It builds upon the innovations of its predestination with the brand new BlackBerry OS 7, a speedy 1.2Ghz Snapdragon CPU, 768MB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and a new 5 megapixel camera.
RIM has always been known for its luxurious, high quality designs in a field of smartphones that often look alike, and the Torch 2 is no exception. RIM has updated the already impressive design of the Torch with a new textured grey surface and a checkerboard back cover that lends it a classy apperance that is sure to be a hit with business pros and personal users alike.
While the Torch was well-received, its slower 624Mhz Marvell CPU and lower resolution 480×320 display placed it in the middle of the pack in those areas, but RIM has really upped the ante with the Torch 2. A 1.2Ghz Snapdragon CPU runs the show, and browsing and general navigation appear very smooth and enjoyable, placing this device on par with the latest from the Android and iOS camps. A crisp 3.2″, 640×480 resolution measures in at a solid 250ppi
The Torch 2 brings the standard 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 to the table, but also brings a magnetometer and possibly NFC (Google Wallet anyone?). In addition, the Torch 2 is one of the first phones in the BlackBerry stable to offer full 720p video recording and playback.
BlackBerry OS 7 shows some of the fruits of RIM”s recent acquisitions of TAT and QNX with the new “Liquid Graphics.” Howver, as BlackBerry OS 7 is still based on the traditional BBOS platform and not the QNX operating system on the PlayBook, it will still feel familiar to existing users. BlackBerry OS 6 was the first to offer a modern WebKit browser, and OS 7 improves things further. Everyone’s favorite, BBM is front and center as always, and the BlackBerry ID offering lets you locate a lost phone while BlackBerry Protect backs up your data regularly.
Expect to find the Torch 2 available here at Negri Electronics as soon as it is released! Check out more coverage, including videos, of this device over at Engadget (the Torch 2 you’ll see there was provided by yours truly here at Negri). Hands-On With The BlackBerry Bold Touch!
April 7th, 2011 by mehedik.15
Only a few days back, I had reported on the Blackberry Touch- the First complete touch screen Smartphone form Blackberry and now I have the Hands on photos of the Blackberry Blod Touch for you. The curtsey goes to bgr.com. I don’t have much on this but what I have, I think will be something interesting for you.
The Blackberry Bold Touch is a great phone that has the classic Blackberry specious QWERTY keypad along with a highly sensitive touch screen. I don’t have any other specification on the handset apart from some news on the Battery. Blackberry has revolutionized their battery with increased battery life and high performance. I have heard that Blackberry Blod Touch uses high energy but still the battery life is enough to support the device for a reasonable amount of time. This device is probably going to be announced at the Blackberry World. The global release date is speculated to be June or July this year. But,you will find this device on our store at the most reasonable rate as soon as it hits the market.
QNX BlackBerries when?
January 31st, 2011 by Khalid Jiwa
I’m sure people are extremely excited about all the new BlackBerries that have been leaked as of late. I know I certainly am. What’s interesting, though, is that the same sentiment seems to be echoed all over the web: these devices are just too little, too late. This is one common topic that keeps popping up all over online forums on a daily basis. I am frequently reading about how some people will stick it out with BlackBerry no matter what, while others can’t take it anymore and are jumping ship to Android or iPhone. Generally, these heated debates seem to be about how these devices won’t be coming out for 6 to 8months, and that by then, other phones will have specs that put these to shame (eg: iPhone and Android). Kevin from Crackberry made an excellent point in a recent podcast this week, where he stated that back in 2008 he predicted that we would get a touch screen Curve and Bold by 2009. It is now 2011 and we are still over half a year a way from any such devices. As member 67Tucker from the Crackberry forums put it,
“Fast forward to 2011 and everything that RIM does from this point appears to be reactive, and not proactive.”
I’m very excited to get the Monaco personally I think that will be a fantastic device, but I have to say, I do agree with these sentiments.
One thing we are told, however, is that RIM is waiting for dual core processors and good battery life before they can use QNX on mobile platforms. Do you guys believe this? I feel like they are trying to pretend and really these 1.2GHz single core flagship models will be upgradeable in to QNX in the future via Desktop Manager. Is this just wishful thinking? Has RIM ever said one thing and done another to throw off the competition? Honestly, I’m quite sure these new devices are capable of running QNX, as they are quite powerful.
If these next generation devices can’t run QNX, and we are waiting 8 months for them, how long will it be before we can even see dual core BlackBerries that can run it? I’m assuming that it could easily be 1.5 years or more. Just thinking about what other devices may be out at that time makes me sad. Even so, I still find myself favoring my BlackBerry over any other device, and I don’t expect that to change any time soon.
New BlackBerry Torch, Storm, Curve & Bold devices in the distant future
January 17th, 2011 by Khalid Jiwa

One big surprise to me this past week was that we had a sudden influx of rumored BlackBerry devices following CES 2011. Four new devices in fact; one from each of the major BlackBerry series. There’s a new Torch (quickly leaving current Torch users upset), a new Storm (long overdue), a next generation Curve with top of the line-ish specs (as the 8900 once was), and a new Bold (way too long overdue). It seems like they chose to let this info out almost immediately after the show was over for some reason or another. Whatever the reason, I’m not complaining since we don’t normally see big leaks like this from RIM. Android phones maybe. Apple phones, definitely not. See the full line-up after the break.
