Can’t get enough movies at home or the theater? Now, Netflix supports its iPad app for iPhone and iPod Touch. Netflix allows you to watch movies either with WiFi or 3G, so you can watch movies on the go. This is a welcoming move as some apps or features of the iPhone limits the usage to the WiFi.

Apple’s recently submitted security patent indicates that it will no longer follow the cat and mouse game with the dev-team. Apple states that the recent move is to protect the iPhone owner from loss or theft of personal data, but the patent also includes the ability to disable any jailbroken iPhones remotely. Jailbreaking is a popular alternative method to install third party apps that have been rejected by Apple. It also allows users to unlock their device and download pirated iTunes apps. The dev-team, main developers of jailbreaking and unlocking applications, exploits the security holes of the iPhone’s operating system and Apple releases software updates to patch the security holes in addition to disabling the jailbreak.
However, the patent explains that Apple has the ability to collect iPhone owners’ usage information, detect any unauthorized applications, and disable the device remotely. Some have raised concerns that the patent also invades personal privacy because it can record videos, iPhone owner’s heartbeat, and voice without the knowledge of the owner. This move comes as a surprise as the U.S. Copyright Office declared jailbreaking to be legal. It appears that Apple is striking back against the jailbreak community, but whether the general iPhone users accept this invasive patent is a question to be asked.
YouTube launches HTML5-enabled mobile website for iPhone and Android, so what this really means is that the iPhone (which doesn’t support flash) can now view videos on YouTube… here’s what’s new:
- It’s really fast.
- The user interface incorporates larger, more touch-friendly elements, making it easier to access videos on the go.
- It incorporates the features and functionality you’ve come to expect from the .com site, like search query suggestions, the options to create playlists, the ability to designate “favorite,” “like” or “unlike” videos directly from your device.
- As we make improvements to Youtube.com, you’ll see them quickly follow on our mobile site, unlike native apps which are not updated as frequently.

In a daring heist, thieves took anywhere from 3,000 to 4,000 iPhones from a warehouse in Belgium, with a street value of up to 2 million euro, or $3 million US. The robbers may be foiled, however: wireless carrier Mobistar, for whom the phones were intended, say they have a list of all the serial numbers and that they will block the phones from accessing their network. The thieves climbed a fire ladder to the roof of a warehouse owned by CEVA Logistics, a Netherlands-based logistics company in Willebroek, Belgium. They then cut a hole in the roof of the large building directly above where the iPhones were located. Reports in the De Standaard newspaper suggested the thieves knew about iPhone delivery and storage location details, and that the robbery may have been an inside job. Mobistar, which has had problems keeping the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in stock, is reportedly in an urgent search for more devices before inventory runs low. With the holiday season coming, the breakin could prove costly to the carrier’s business. Mobistar has prepared for a large number of devices coming onto the black market by blocking them from accessing the Mobistar network. However, the strong likelihood is that these phones will be unlocked before they are sold. Police say they have no leads. image from Gizmodo |
After using an iPhone 3G since release date last year, I was originally hesitant to upgrade to the 3GS. It originally seemed like only a marginal upgrade. Here are some of the impressive features which should encourage you to upgrade or switch to a 3GS:
-Faster Processor (600 mhz)
-More RAM (256 MB)
-Internal Compass (great for Google Maps)
-Voice Commands
The most substantial upgrade I’ve found is the processing power and RAM upgrades; it is the prime reason I decided to upgrade. I ran into issues on the 3G with delay in opening text message threads, the camera, and Safari. After jailbreaking my 3G I’ve discovered the issue is usually an amount of available ram of 5-10MB causing the slugishness. Additionally, the 3G has great resale value and can defer some of the cost of the new 3GS. Be sure to check out Negri’s Upgrade Up program to trade in your old electronics for cash.

The new Apple iPhone 3GS is out, and has some major improvements. Though the device looks identical to the iPhone 3G, Operating System improvements have made this device much faster. Some of the improvements to be noticed are:
- The first thing you’ll notice about iPhone 3GS is how quickly you can launch applications. Web pages render in a fraction of the time, and you can view email attachments faster. Improved performance and updated 3D graphics deliver an incredible gaming experience, too. In fact, everything you do on iPhone 3GS is up to 2x faster and more responsive than iPhone 3G.
- Now you can shoot video, edit it, and share it — all on your iPhone 3GS. Shoot high-quality VGA video in portrait or landscape. Trim your footage by adjusting start and end points. Then share your video in an email, post it to your MobileMe gallery, publish it on YouTube, or sync it back to your Mac or PC using iTunes.
- The new 3-megapixel camera takes great still photos, too, thanks to built-in autofocus and a handy new feature that lets you tap the display to focus on anything (or anyone) you want. Voice Control recognizes the names in your Contacts and knows the music on your iPod. So if you want to place a call or play a song, all you have to do is ask.
- With a built-in digital compass, iPhone 3GS can point the way. Use the new Compass app, or watch as it automatically reorients maps to match the direction you’re facing.
- Cut, copy, and paste words and photos, even between applications. Copy and paste images and content from the web, too.
All in all, the new iPhone is an excellent device and runs like a champ. We are offering Carrier and Factory Unlocked versions of the 3GS iPhones. For information on how to purchase this device, check out the link after the jump.
