Watch as Nokia remotely wipes the device! Amazing Stuff! You can see the rest of the info here.

Thanks to Techno Buffalo some lucky soul will be handling a “sick” proto-type without an OS! Anyone that can figure out how to load an OS onto it is surely to see some store credit!

Also, just to make it clear that we do NOT have possession of this device. Mr. Brendan Reilly of Nokia Legal contacted me the other day regarding the device. We maintain our innocence to this date, simply because Negri Electronics was never in possession of what is to be a “stolen” Nokia device (if we did we would have removed the IMEI from the video and images). According to Mr. Reilly “The product itself is a trade secret which is being misappropriated by the continued publication of the images and video therein.” However we only purchased the rights to this video…and were unaware at any point in time that the device was in fact stolen. However Mr. Reilly was instant on proving his point and asked for the assistance of the Costa Mesa Police Department to “relay” his message to me. Here is the story:

At 11:40AM on Thursday, July 1st I was visited by a local police office here in Costa Mesa with a message to call a Private Investigator. Knowing I have never done anything illegal, I was curious to see why I was being told by a police officer to call some “detective”; I was interested so I called.

A gentleman answered the phone and I told him who I was, he didn’t introduce himself, but said he was handling a case, and he asked me if the name “Brendan Reilly” was familiar to me. I told him yes. (This was the “Lawyer” from Nokia that was insisting that I remove the images of the Nokia Prototype from my site). He went on asking questions such in regards to the device. Below is (what I remember to be) the conversation brief:

P.I “How did you get the device?”

Ryan “We were given the device”

P.I “Who gave it to you”

Ryan “I don’t believe that I have to tell you that”

P.I. “Where is the device now?”

Ryan “I do not know”

P.I. “You just said you had the device”

Ryan “I said someone gave us the device, but we do not have this in our possession”

P.I. “So someone gave it to you and you don’t have it?”

Ryan “Correct, we are given devices all the time, we have them shipped to others”

P.I. “Where is the device?”

Ryan: “I do not know”

P.I. “Did you have the device?”

Ryan “No sir, I purchased the rights to the images and the video”

P.I. “Who made the video?”

Ryan “I don’t have to tell you that information”

P.I. “When is the last time you were arrested”

Ryan “What does that have anything to do with this?”

P.I “I see that time coming very soon!”

Ryan “Ok” (click)

Then again at 12:40PM, same day, the officer shows up again. My thoughts is that they have a warrant to search the place for the device that I do not have…but he merely comes in asking for my ID and records the information he needs and is on his way. Friendly guy I might ad.

This is definitely to be continued, I’m anticipating some “Brian Lam” type action from the authorities soon. Hope to try to enjoy my Holiday weekend. I’m SURE the Police have better things to do in Newport Beach on the weekend of the 4th of July!
