According to a leaked slide from HP, the company is working on a Windows 8 tablet. The new tablet will be thinner than the iPad. As reported by a trusted source “Neowin”, it will feature a 10.1-inch display and boast battery life in the 8-10 hour range.
Basically, the device is for business use and is known as the “HP Slate 8″. The unit’s specifications note that it will accept multi-touch or digital pen input and will be compatible with enterprise-level docking.
The Slate 8 will be an x86 device. Earlier this year, CEO of HP Meg Whitman said that HP will release x86-based PCs by the end of this year. The new Slate 8 could be the first one in that series.
No released date has been announced yet and no confirmation of price. It is quite obvious that the Slate 8 won’t hit the market until the later this year when Microsoft releases Windows 8, likely around October.
It is important for HP to deliver this enterprise-level tablet without the business-level price tag. By doing this, the Slate 8 can be successful device in the tablet market.
