Yet another OS, the Intel Moblin 2.1

Jean-Paul Navarro |

Yes, you’re not seeing things, another Operating System is going to hit the market together with Windows, OS X, all the Linux OSs, and Google Chrome.  Like Chrome, the Intel Moblin is targeted at netbooks, smartphones,  and nettops.  This OS will have good touch screen capabilities and gesture input.  Its web browser will also support flash and silverlight.  even though it does look stylish and sleek, I will probably still prefer installing Windows 7 starter edition on my laptop, but wont mind trying it out.

Nokia 5800 camera quality (I’m Back)

Jean-Paul Navarro |

Hey everyone!  I’m back from my vacation in Rome…  Which in my opinion is one of the most beautiful places in Europe.  Whilst there I took some photos using my Nokia 5800 (just to have some memories stored of Rome)…  I have uploaded 2 pictures as tests for the camera quality of its 3.2mp camera…  The pictures are 2048 x 1536 for landscape view and 1536 x 2048 for portrait.  I would appreciate comments of what you think of the quality…

Nokia 5800 V31.0.008

Jean-Paul Navarro | September 16, 2009

Nokia have unofficially released the latest Software update for the Nokia 5800 to V31. I have a 5800 and I can personally verify this. Though there is no Kinetic srolling and a home screen that everyone was hoping for… The only difference is the new Maps 3 and better touch t experience.

LG GW620

Jean-Paul Navarro | September 14, 2009

WOW!  Yet another Android Phone has just been released by LG…  This handset is to be available European markets in Q4 2009.  Not too much specifications have released apart from a 3-inch touch screen and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard (quite like the Motorola Cliq).  This is LG’s first Android phone and it looks like Google have a bright future heading they’re way as far as Mobile OS goes…

Motorola Cliq

Jean-Paul Navarro | September 11, 2009

We knew for quite a while now that Motorola were working on a Android based smart-phone, we just didn’t know what it was…  I’ve always been a Google Android fan, just not a Motorola fan…  But it does look like a really big Iphone Contender (even though are are more phones that are better then the Iphone).  I has a 5 mega pixel camera, WiFi, 3G, full HTML browser, sliding QWERTY keyboard, a 3.5mm audio jack, MicroSD up to 32GB.  You’ve got to admit, this phone is fully packed!   No pricing has been revealed yet, but it will be available in the fall.

Windows 7 RTM

Jean-Paul Navarro | September 6, 2009

just installed the final Windows 7 Ultimate RTM, and I’m loving it.  I do admit that it takes some getting used to, but its worth-it…  To me its the Ferrari 360 of Operating Systems, a breath of fresh air if you were previously using the Morris Minor that is called Vista.  It is also surprisingly compatible with many software and driers, even though it hasn’t even been released to the general public yet.  Here are a few of my favourite tips & tricks found in Windows 7 (below are my own screenshots):

Windows Management - being able to dock a window to one side of the screen, and anther window to the other side.  You could also minimize a window.

  • Win+Left Arrow and Win+Right Arrow dock;
  • Win+Up Arrow and Win+Down Arrow maximizes and restores / minimizes;
  • Win+Shift+Up Arrow and Win+Shift+Down Arrow maximizes and restores the vertical size.

windows management

Minimizing Windows - A useful button found on the new taskbar is to minimize all windows to show desktop.  The button is the one on the right.  You could also press Win+Home

Capture2

Multi-monitor Management - In 7 you can use Win+Shift+Left Arrow and Win+Shift+Right Arrow to move windows from one monitor to another – keeping them in the same relative location to the monitor’s top-left origin.

Another trick is to call up the programs docked in your taskbar by clicking Win+1, Win+2, Win+3, etc

Another trick that might not really come in handy, but is fun to do is the ability to peek at your desktop by holding Win+Space, this will temporary minimize the windows you where on until you hold those buttons.  When you let go of them the windows in use will pop-up again.

LG Chocolate Touch – US Launch in October

Brando | September 4, 2009

LG Chocolate Touch

LG’s latest touch screen phone, the Chocolate Touch, is set to launch in Europe this month and come to the US in October. The LG Chocolate Touch is unique in the fact it sports a 21:9 panoramic display. Looks like a pretty sweet phone, but with the added size, how will it fit in your pocket? Also, will it melt? To read more, take a look at the press release from LG.
