The guys over at BGR have got their hands on a new device from HTC. This is what they had to say about the device:
Our source describes the phone as being an EVO in a larger and more polished Nexus One body; brushed aluminum, very upper end of the market, you get the picture. “It makes the Droid 2 look like a kids toy,” our source told us. No word on if it is a global device, although… we’re betting it is. From what we can see the device has an 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, kickstand, 4.3-inch screen, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and, wait for it… a front facing camera.

Apple is gearing up to release its iOS 4.1 update that will address the plaguing “antennagate” and proximity sensor issues that some current iPhone 4 owners have been experiencing. From the beginning of iPhone 4 release, some owners have reported dropped calls, no signal reception, and the screen’s inability to turn off when the phone is close to the face. While Steve Jobs explained that there is a “proper” way to hold the phone and bumper cover solutions, some are hoping that this update will fix the problems.
Apple has released two updates since June addressing signal bars and a security hole – both not addressing the antenna and proximity sensor. Some are saying that this update should fix the iPhone 4 to what it should have been upon release in June, but many are hoping that it will fix the issues.

Apple’s recently submitted security patent indicates that it will no longer follow the cat and mouse game with the dev-team. Apple states that the recent move is to protect the iPhone owner from loss or theft of personal data, but the patent also includes the ability to disable any jailbroken iPhones remotely. Jailbreaking is a popular alternative method to install third party apps that have been rejected by Apple. It also allows users to unlock their device and download pirated iTunes apps. The dev-team, main developers of jailbreaking and unlocking applications, exploits the security holes of the iPhone’s operating system and Apple releases software updates to patch the security holes in addition to disabling the jailbreak.
However, the patent explains that Apple has the ability to collect iPhone owners’ usage information, detect any unauthorized applications, and disable the device remotely. Some have raised concerns that the patent also invades personal privacy because it can record videos, iPhone owner’s heartbeat, and voice without the knowledge of the owner. This move comes as a surprise as the U.S. Copyright Office declared jailbreaking to be legal. It appears that Apple is striking back against the jailbreak community, but whether the general iPhone users accept this invasive patent is a question to be asked.
